Grammys Preview: Who Will The Post-Grammys Sales Winners Be?

Michael Jackson’s "This Is it" album, which has scanned 1.3 million units since its Oct. 27 release, is now hovering at a healthy 20,000 units range. The Grammys tribute to Jackson and the 3-D performance that's planned - a mini movie of the artist performing "Earth Song" from his "HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I" album will be run during the show - will send sales soaring. "This Is It" sales will rise to the 100,000 mark in the week after the show's broadcast, Billboard predicts. And expect sales of "Earth Song," the only song known to be played during the broadcast at this point, to spike to some point between 100,000 and 200,000 units in the week after the Jan. 31 Grammy broadcast. According to Nielsen SoundScan the song has 90,000 scans now. | |
